The potential for interest rates to rise is still dominating the news this week, economists are warning that interest rates could rise as many as 4 times over the coming year to bring the Bank of England base rate to 1.25%.

For the first time in 10 years the Bank of England is expected to lift the base rate in November which could mark the start of a many more rate rises during 2018.
If the predictions come true then this could mean a dramatic increase in the cost of mortgage debts.

However, this is not the view of all experts with some suggesting that the economy is only seeing limited momentum and are unconvinced that it is strong enough to sustain rapid hikes to the base rate.
